Deputation Update

7/2/2008

Dear Friends and Family,

After many hours of driving and meals on the road, we have come to the land of horses and buggies. On Friday we left Columbus, GA for a month in the Midwest. As we drive down the streets and see the Amish riding in their buggies all bundled up with their old time clothes, it seems we have stepped back in time. How it grieves our hearts that these people who seem so kind and genuine on the outside are really as our Lord Jesus Christ said of the Pharisees, “full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.” How thankful we are that although we do not always live as we ought, we have utmost confidence that we stand righteous before God because of the payment Christ made upon the cross for our sins! “I need no other argument, I need no other plea, it is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me.”

As we have traveled to different churches, it has been evident that there are many even in the church who struggle, not sure of their eternal destiny. The reason for this struggle is that, just as the Amish, they are trusting in their good works instead of the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses us from all sin.

This past Sunday we had a meeting in Lagrange, Indiana at the Lagrange Baptist Church. The pastor was out of town and allowed Jeremy to preach both Sunday morning and evening. What a blessing to see some visitors come in on Sunday morning and hear the Gospel!

Please continue in prayer for us as we spend most of this month traveling throughout the Midwest. Thank you all for your faithful prayers and support!

With Grateful Hearts,

Jeremy and Esther Lockhart
