Deputation Update

July 15, 2008

Dear Friends and Family,

These past couple weeks we have been running non-stop. Two Sunday’s ago we arrived at the Grace Baptist Church of Paxton, IL. This church has been experimenting with their meeting schedule which made for a very enjoyable, but long day. We had Sunday school at 9:30, morning service at 10:30, lunch at 11:45, and evening service at 1:00. This gave us much time to fellowship with the people of the church. Their pastor, Levi Deatrick, used to be a member at our home church in NC, so we enjoyed catching up with his family on all that God has done over the years since they left.

At 3:00 we left out from Paxton, IL and arrived in Wayland, MO just in time (well, a little late) for their evening service. The First Baptist Church has a missionary in for their Vacation Bible School each year, and we were privileged to be their missionary this year. Jeremy taught the 7th and 8th grade class all week, and Esther was the music teacher. The boys and girls collected a penny offering each day, and when the girls won on Friday, the reward was to watch Esther put a pie in Jeremy’s face. She rubbed it all over his face and hair while the kids watched in delight! During Friday’s VBS, Pastor Deatrick gave an invitation after the message, and two children trusted Christ. We were excited to see the Lord at work in the lives of these boys and girls!

Also on Friday, we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! It is amazing how fast the time flies. We are grateful for these years the Lord has given us to serve Him together and pray that He gives us many more! On Sunday night we finished the final VBS program and then left out on Monday morning to Harrisonville, MO.

We are looking forward to this week off to catch up on some needed rest and study! Thank you all for your faithful prayers and support!

With Grateful Hearts,

Jeremy and Esther Lockhart
