Deputation Update

5/20/2008

Dear Friends and Family,

As we look back on the past year we are thankful for all that the LORD has done in our lives!  It was a year ago today that as our pastor preached out of Ephesians 3, the LORD directed our steps to the country of Brazil.  As time flies by we are reminded how our lives are as a vapor that appears for a time and then vanishes away.  Although we desire to be at work in Brazil, we constantly ask the LORD to bring us across the paths of those here who need to be shown the greatness of our God and His power to save.  It seems that the more pagan our country becomes, the more we stand out as different and are given opportunities to tell people why!

We were blessed with two good meetings this past week.  The first was on Wednesday at the Friendship Baptist Church of Newville, PA.  We arrived early on Wednesday and enjoyed some time of fellowship with the pastor before the service.  What a blessing it has been to talk with pastors all over the country and gain knowledge from listening to them and observing their ministries.

On Sunday we traveled to Milanville, PA.  This is in the northeast corner of PA – almost on the New York border.  We presented our ministry on Sunday morning at the Caulkins Union Baptist Church.  This place was out in the middle of nowhere, but our hearts were warmed as we heard the testimonies of many men that were saved over the past few years.  It seems that when God gets hold of the hearts of men, he gets the whole family too.

We have started praying that when we get to Brazil, God will allow us to see many men saved and trained to lead their families to serve the LORD.  Many churches in Brazil struggle, being filled with women and children, but no male leadership.  Will you help us to pray that God will give us men!  We appreciate all of you that read our updates and pray for us.  It is a great blessing to know that many are holding us up in prayer!  Thank you!

With  Grateful Hearts,

Jeremy and Esther Lockhar
