Deputation Update
April 2008 Prayer Letter
Dear Praying Friends,
Since our last prayer letter in February we have had fifteen more meetings. Three of
the churches have taken us on for support and several more have promised to later this
year. Praise the LORD for bringing in this new support! We have also been blessed to be
able to schedule many more meetings for the year and also a few for the first part of next
year. We praise the LORD for His continued provision of our needs.
We are excited that the
Schrock family, our missionary team for Brazil, is soon to start deputation. They have been
able to schedule many meetings for the year and look forward to getting started on their
travels.
During the latter part of March we were able to attend our mission board’s candidate
school in Pigeon Forge, TN. The Freedom Baptist Church of Pigeon Forge was very gracious
to provide lodging and food for all the missionaries. Several of the pastors on the
board were there to preach and teach us more about deputation and missionary work.
These two days were a great time of learning and fellowship with other missionaries.
We
thank the LORD for his protection this month as our daughter laid hold on some mouse poison.
It looked like a box of candy to her, but God allowed Esther to catch her before she ate
it! We were reminded of the attractiveness of sin to our old sinful flesh and how quickly it
can ruin our lives. Praise the LORD that he has conquered sin and death and given us victory
over those things which once bound us!
As we look ahead, April and May find us busy with all but a couple service days unfilled.
Would you pray with us that these churches would see and understand our burden for
the people of Brazil and join with us in support? We are confident that God has called us to
this work and are praying that He would lead us to the right churches at the right time. We
thank the LORD for those of you who have joined with us in prayer and financial support and
are careful to use the resources given us to the glory of God.
The following are some specific
prayers that you can pray for us:
1) Pray for spiritual and physical strength as we continue to travel.
2) Pray for souls to be saved and believers to be challenged concerning the work of missions.
3) Pray for the salvation and effective training of our two daughters.
4) Pray that God would begin paving the way into the hearts of those to whom we will minister in Brazil.
With Grateful Hearts,
The Lockhart Family
